Yarnell lost one of its long-time residents, Donna Gordon, to a vehicle/pedestrian accident.
It is a shame that it took this tremendous loss to force us to face what’s been going on in our town and to make some changes to our town; perhaps we didn’t want to believe that this could happen here.
The Yarnell-Peeples Valley Chamber of Commerce is starting The Donna Gordon Project.
The Donna Gordon Project is to ensure safer streets for all of us – whether here to visit, to live part-time or as part of our daily life.
The Y-PV Chamber of Commerce will work with local, county, state and federal sources to attempt to get things like additional street lights, crosswalks at major intersections in town and possibly a yellow blinking light. There has also been some off-hand discussion about trying to get the speed limit through town reduced and/or even extending the speed limit out further in an attempt to slow traffic coming into town from either direction.
We are just in the beginning stages of The Donna Gordon Project but we believe that something positive for the town Donna loved has got to come out of this tragedy. Please follow us on Facebook (fb.com/ypvchamber) and come back to the website to see the progress we’ve made.
Please be safe out there, look both ways before crossing our busy road, don’t try to outrun or out-walk a vehicle – When in Doubt, Don’t Walk Out.
