The alert system used by Yavapai County called Code Red has been replaced with a new alert system called AlertYavapai.
From the Yavapai County Sherriff Office website about Alert Yavapai (https://www.ycsoaz.gov/I-Want-To/Services/Sign-up-for-Emergency-Notifications)
“Get up-to-the-minute information about severe weather, road closures, and much more!
Yavapai County residents are encouraged to sign up for AlertYAVAPAI the County’s new Emergency Mass Notification System. AlertYAVAPAI replaces the CodeRed system which the County previously used to notify residents and businesses of emergencies.
The Alert YAVAPAI system enhances officials’ ability to quickly communicate with the public and provide critical and time-sensitive information for emergencies such as wildfires, evacuations, floods and missing persons. By registering for Alert YAVAPAI, you can receive alerts via cell phone by voice or text, email addresses, home phone, business phone, and more.
How Does It Work?
The process begins when we learn of a potential safety hazard or concern. Next, we will use AlertYAVAPAI to send a message through your primary contact path. Messages will be sent to you via cell phone, SMS, home phone, e-mail, fax, pager and more-to ensure real-time access to potentially lifesaving information.
The system is easy to use, and the instructions for confirming messages will be included in the notification. If we do not reach you on the first attempt, the system may try another phone number or alternate method of communication, such as text messaging or email.
An additional way you can be notified is to opt in to receive text alerts. Just text AlertYAVAPAI (all one word) to 888-777. You will then get a response that welcomes you to AlertYAVAPAI, and then you will be asked to reply with your zip code to get area-based alerts.
You can also download the Everbridge App and then search for Yavapai County or Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office where you can sign up on the webpage and choose to receive notifications through the app.
The success of this service relies on YOU. Having your latest contact information is the only way to ensure that we can contact you in an emergency.”
